Growatt THOR 11AS and 22AS P/S/PE/SE Smart EV Chargers

The verified THOR route contains two three-phase power classes and two connection styles across standard and UK datasheets. The 11AS models are 400 V, 16 A and 11 kW; 22AS models are 400 V, 32 A and 22 kW. P and PE variants include a 5 m Type 2 cable, while S and SE are socket variants. Solar-linkage, load balancing, Ethernet/Wi-Fi/optional 4G and OCPP 1.6 are listed, but meter, communications, site protection, earthing and vehicle charging limits must be designed for the exact destination.

The suffix determines more than the product label.

11AS or 22AS

The 11 kW unit requires up to 16 A three phase; the 22 kW unit requires up to 32 A. Actual vehicle intake remains limited by the vehicle's onboard charger, phases and site supply.

Cable or socket

P/PE columns show a plug connection and 5 m cable; S/SE columns show a Type 2 socket without a fixed cable. Connector, cable and user workflow should be explicit in the order code.

Standard and UK documents

The standard P/S table lists AC 30 mA plus DC 6 mA earth-leakage protection. The UK PE/SE table states 6 mA DC fault-current protection and a separate RCD row; local upstream protection must follow the exact manual and rules.

Smart functions need system hardware

Fast, PV linkage, off-peak and load-balancing modes plus OCPP 1.6 are listed. Meter/MID option, network and backend architecture still need selection and commissioning.

Exact suffix and destination

State THOR 11AS or 22AS, P/S or PE/SE, full revision, country, connector/cable requirement, quantity and intended private, fleet or public-use context.

Vehicle and duty

List vehicle models, Type 2 interface, onboard AC charger rating, phase support, daily energy, dwell time, simultaneous sessions and future fleet growth.

Electrical capacity

Provide service voltage, available three-phase current, main-board rating, diversity, cable length, voltage drop, breaker, isolation, surge protection, fault level and grounding/earthing arrangement.

RCD and DC protection

Have the local designer map the exact internal protection row to upstream RCD/RCBO, earthing and disconnection requirements; do not use generic family wording as the protection design.

Solar and load balancing

Identify PV inverter, meter/CT/MID device, phase allocation, export logic, load threshold, fail-safe behavior, communications wiring and commissioning method.

Connectivity and backend

Confirm Ethernet/Wi-Fi/optional 4G, SIM/data, app region/account, RFID cards, OCPP 1.6 backend profile, cybersecurity, ownership, warranty and remote-support responsibilities.

Vehicle and installation boundaries

A 22 kW label and Type 2 interface do not guarantee 22 kW for every EV

Charging power and compliance depend on vehicle, supply and installation conditions.

Vehicle capability limits power

A single-phase or lower-rated onboard charger will not accept the charger's full 11 or 22 kW. Connector compatibility alone is not a performance guarantee.

Smart solar needs accessories

PV linkage and load balancing require the applicable meter/CT or MID device, communications, compatible control design and correct commissioning.

Protection wording is variant-specific

Do not transfer the standard P/S leakage row into the UK PE/SE design. Apply the exact manual and local RCD, earthing and wiring regulations.

IP65 is not unrestricted outdoor use

Mounting orientation, connector handling, drainage, direct weather, temperature, cable entry, impact risk, clearances and maintenance still follow the manual and site design.

The exact suffix, site protection and vehicle capability should be recorded together.

What is the difference between P/PE and S/SE?

The verified tables show P and PE as 5 m Type 2 cable versions, while S and SE are socket versions.

Will every Type 2 EV charge at 22 kW?

No. The vehicle's onboard charger, supported phases, battery state and site supply can reduce AC charging power.

Is an external meter required for solar or load balancing?

These functions require the applicable meter/CT or MID option and communications/control design. Confirm the exact supported hardware and wiring.

Can one RCD design be used for all four suffixes?

Do not assume that. Standard and UK datasheets use different protection wording; follow the exact manual and destination rules.
